It’s a pretty good time to be shopping for a house in the Twin Cities.

Median selling prices in 2007 are expected to increase by only about 1 percent or so in the 13-county area.

In 2006, median prices were at a virtual standstill as buyers regained control of the market. That was thanks to a 16 percent decline in sales at a time when the supply of houses on the market spiked.

Median prices in 2006 were up about 0.5 percent over the previous year in the Twin Cities. That compares with increases ranging from 6 percent to nearly 12 percent in the first half of the decade.
